Growing and harvesting gourds is a satisfying and rewarding experience.
Back in our gourd growing days we learned
much about gourds and their amazing characteristics. Their shapes and sizes range from huge to miniature. There are about thirty different kinds of the hard shelled gourd.
Gourd cleaning is a very important and necessary step that has to be taken before any gourd art work can begin. The thin outer layer of skin is removed by first soaking the gourd, then scrubbing every inch with a stainless steel scrubber. This exposes the natural designs left on the gourds.
Bob hand brushes Polyurathane on painted pieces to achieve glass-like finish.
